As of January 1, 2011 Hawaii will allow Civil Unions between same sex partners. What does this mean? Those wishing to have a civil union will go through the same procedure as those desiring a wedding, which is to obtain a license application on line or in person, have it approved by a licensing agent in person, and then have an officiant conduct the ceremony, sign the paper, and file the paperwork.
